Positive: Location excellent good views and secure parking.
Negative: On arrival shown to the apartment on the first floor after negotiating a total of 27 steps, the five or six steps upto the entrance door could do with a handrail. Showed the various rooms. Regarding the kitchen area, the lady showing us around opened the fridge door as if itl check it was working then fiddled with the plugs at the left at the back of the worktop. She then went to the plugs on the back right hand side of the worktop again, fiddling with them, operated the red switch on the extension lead, and then left us. After unpacking we decided to make a cup of tea only to find that the kettle would not work, neither did the fridge microwave, washing machine or dishwasher. Went downstairs for assistance. The lady came upstairs and fidled around with the plugs and appliances to no avail. By this time, we had been in the apartment for an hour tired and very thirsty. She then went to a cupbard and after moving two items of furniture, gain access to a fuse box declaring all was okay. She then looked into another cupboard where she found another fuse box where a triped fuse was discovered. She then went directly to the red switch on the extension lead on the righthand side of the worktop, which upon operation lit up with a bright bright red light. She then declared that everything was now working. Obviously, she was aware that red light needed to be illuminated for the power to be on. Why did she not declared at that point that she had an issue instead of just leaving us? Apparently, the previous occupier was at fault for not telling her there was a problem! Is it not the responsibility of the host to check accommodation both after and before a client arrival and departure? It was now an hour and a half after our arrival before we could make ourselves a drink. You can understand why we are very unhappy with our stay at this establishment

Positive: This place is a beautiful oasis of calm. After riding my motorbike through a storm to get here I appreciated the space to sit and enjoy the evening sun amongst the trees. The kitchen had all I needed for cooking my dinner, the bed was comfortable and it had a lovely, powerful shower. The room itself was in the turret of this beautiful house and the small village 10 minutes from the town of Laon with its medieval town centre on a hill. Secure storage for car/motorcycle. The host were absolutely lovely, and I would like to return in the future

Positive: Great self contained apartment housed in the turret of this attractive chateau like house. Well equipped kitchen with space outside to eat. Friendly helpful host with Leo the doberman who is also very friendly. Ideal as an overnight stay on the way to Calais. Secure parking within the grounds.
Negative: Nothing for us but you do need to be reasonably mobile to deal with the stone steps in the turret.

Negative: There was a holiday so no shops open for miles. Also a crash on hill into Laon. None of this was down to the owners. Fridge didn't work its being replaced.

Positive: It really does look as good in real life as it does in the pictures. What a lovely looking house. It's a spacious appartment on the first floor accessed via an old stone spiral staircase. The owner greeted us on arrival, she doesn't speak English and my French is very basic but we understood one another and it added to the character of the stay and you don't need to speak the same language to know that you're being given a genuine and warm welcome. The owner has a big dog which normally roams freely but for those that aren't comfortable around dogs (like us) the owner very kindly and considerately kept it out of the way and we never saw it. (I'm aware that this can be a sensitive topic for some but before anyone thinks of us as not being animal lovers keep in mind we're both vegan and my wife has an animal fur alergy :) The property has some really cool architectural features, for example if you're into carpentry check out how the design of the windows. OK that's a bit nerdy but I'm into that sort of thing. The garden is huge and deckchairs are provided. Parking is outside on the side of the road but the road is very quiet and seems very safe.
